Vocal Education starts promptly at 7:30pm, so guests and prospective new members should arrive around 7:00 p.m. to our rehearsal hall to check in before joining us on the risers. You'll see just how much fun a rehearsal can be, and you'll have a chance to meet some of our members, find out about the requirements of membership and get all of your questions answered.
On your first night, someone on the directing team will "voice place" you to determine which part is best suited to your vocal range, and check to see if you have an ear for harmony. See "Come Join Us" for more information on each of the four voice parts. You'll be asked to sing Happy Birthday! and sing a scale or sing a few bars of a song of your choice. That's about it!
After visiting a rehearsal and being voice-placed, we will give you sheet music and a learning CD for our current contest uptune. You will have 6 to 8 weeks to learn the notes and words (section leaders are there to help), practice, and then audition. The word 'audition' sounds a little scary, but this one is easy--- Keep in mind, 4 of us will be there singing right along with you--- and we've all been through it and survived!
AHH! Chorus members work hard to achieve musical excellence with joy! As a new member, you will be assigned a 'singing sister' to help answer all of your questions and guide you through your first year with the chorus. So if you like to sing, dance and perform, and want to polish your vocal production techniques and presentation skills, consider joining AHH! and adding a new dimension to your life!
